Q. What breeds do we specialize in?
Answer: We breed top quality Irish Sport Horses, Thoroughbreds, Andalusian and Spanish Mustangs on a small scale. We own one stallion from each breed, all of which are currently foals. You can view their interactions and their bachelor herd under the Herd Journal tab. Our Irish Sport Horses are trained as Hunters and Cross Country Q. What services do we offer?
Answer: Dark Horse Stables offers breeding and foal crops of the purest Spanish Mustang strands, North America's first horse. We are open to private breeding requests between our stallions and imported mares as well as our stallions to our mares. Recently, we have also built a boarding stable equipped with everything a horse could dream of. This will be offered later on once we have built the other buildings. We are also the registrar for all Spanish Mustangs. Q. How do we edit foals?
Answer: Most of the time we will edit all of our foals regardless of where they will end up, in an attempt to make them look realistic and beautiful. We only edit the coats, however, we never edit the shape of our foals. Private bred foals have more available options through the buyer when signing the application. Unless otherwise stated, crops of both/either foals or yearlings will be posted at the beginning of each month. Currently, Dark Horse Stables is not offering crops. Q. What do we look for in Applications?
Answer: Thoroughness, honesty, and a passion that makes the application memorable. We deal with many people on a weekly basis, and those applications that have short one or two word answers do not stick out of the crowd. We try to be fair in our decisions, that being said, prior horses bought from DHS by a return buyer will not have preference over new potential buyers. Affiliation with our stable has no effect on the chance a person has. However, active members with websites and detailed descriptions have the best chance of receiving a foal on the first try. Q. How do we choose which foals we keep?
Answer: It's a very difficult choice deciding who we will keep and who we will give to a good home. Foals that were bred from personal favorite pairs are often the toughest ones to decide, but we are a business after all and want what is best for the horse. The horses that show the most promise as a future competition horse in one of the categories we specialize in: Show Jumping, Cross Country, Halter Show, and Dressage - and have the personality to make the best breeding horses are often the ones that end up staying with us. On rare occasions, these horses will be sold as yearlings or seasoned adults to make room. Q. Are we interested in buying horses?
Answer: Yes! We are often looking for pedigree horses with good lines and champion parents to join our herd. But equally as important are bringing good temperaments and exemplary conformation into our stables. We are always on the look out for warmbloods and Spanish Mustangs. If you have a horse in mind, please feel free to give us the horse's information at [email protected] Q. Why do we put so much effort into each horse?
Answer: Because every horse deserves the best care, affection, and treatment as possible. Our horses are not inter-changeable, we do not forget their names or their numbers. These horses give us their all, its the least we can do in return. Just like real horses, they have ongoing competitions, times of rest, and times for breeding. Each has their own schedule and titles. But what it all comes down to is their love for us, and our love for them. |
