"Hey, yea, mom? I was wondering. . . would you be able to watch Katie for a couple hours?" The agonizing wait. . . "Yea," pause followed by a laugh. I leaned into the phone, "Well, uh, I guess you could say that." I pressed my ear to the phone, "You know you can always count on me, Aaron." His mother said, "How's Ashlee doing?"
"Hi, Jane. It's me," Aaron chuckled. "Oh, well hello, its nice to hear from you again. A whole day is far too long a wait." I laughed, Aaron's eyes shined and his smiling jaw clenched. I put my finger to his lips and took the phone. "I think so, too," she thought I was joking. "How's it going over there? Have Harley and Leah been by?" "They came over just after you left yesterday. Seems they lossed against little old me in a game of war. I won myself twenty dollars." "Well congratulations, Jane." Aaron's hands slid into my back pocket. "I think I'll put it towards Katie's Christmas present. Does she have a Sleeping Breauty dress?" "Oh, Jane your so nice," Aaron put his other hand in my front pocket, "Um, no, she doesn't have that one yet. Hey, uah, is there any time you'd prefer her to come over?" I asked while trying to wiggle my way out of his clutch. "Well, actually," Oh no, "I can take my favorite grandchild in right now." The bells of heavin rung in my ears. "Great, she's been talking about you all morning. When are we going back to Grandmas? Can I call Grandma? It's adorable." Aaron pulled me to him and casually locked me there. "Tell her Grandma says she's ready to see her!" Jane said. "Hey, Katie!" The hands in my pocket slipped out and wrapped around my waist lightly. Out daughter came running down the hall. "You wanna go see Grandma?" "YEEEAAAA!" She stomped her feet. In the commotion, Aaron groaned in my hear then went to get Katie dressed. "She sounds excited," Jane laughed. "Just a little." "She's so sweet." "We can't get enough of her." I leaned back so I could see Katie's room and looked through the half open door. Aaron was slightly less than frantic, searching for a sock that matched the pink one in his left hand. "Nobody can." "Thank you." "Now, when will you be here? Just so I can tidy up." "Um. . . twenty minutes?" Twenty endless minutes. . . "Perfect." Great. "See you soon." "Alright, bye bye now." I hung up the phone and rounded up all six shoes. Aaron came out holding Katie's hand, her little fluffy blue coat looked so cute on her. Aaron gave me a look of, This is killing me. I handed him his shoes. I put Katie's shoes on and got her a snack. She searched for seven minutes trying to figure out what exactly she just had to bring. The whole time her daddy's jaw wouldn't relax. We got in the car and over to Jane's house perfectly on time. Aaron asked if I would stay in the car. She welcomed us in but Aaron had an explanation covered. Said he was planning a special lunch for me, told me in the car when I asked how we got out of that one. I kept my hands off him until we pulled in the parking garage. When I kissed his neck, the car accelerated hid swerve, when I kissed the side of his mouth the tires squealed and whipped into a parking space. When I pressed on his thy he growled impatiently. By this time my seat belt was off and I was on top of him. His hands went over my spine and down my back pockets. He brought me over him and began lifting my shirt, pulling it down again, and fumbling for the keys still in the ignition. He turned the windshield wipers on and honked the horn. I unhooked him from the seat and he didn't hesitate to yank the keys out and open his door. I came out after him. We walked very quickly, well, he fast-walked, I kind of jogged most of the time. He scaled one flight of stairs before whipping me against a wall. I unbuttoned his pants but left the zipper up. He pressed on me when he felt my hands. His tongue went in my mouth and I saw fire. Blazing, tornado birthed fire. He was the unfortunate one who had to fiddle with the keys. We have a routine with this part. He grabbed the handle and I grabbed his pants, trying to turn him to me. He came, but still tried to find the right key. I slipped under his arm and put my back against the door. Aaron's desire for me overruled any plank of wood. He put his hands on either side of the frame and latched into me. My hands slid up his shirt. He shivered. Miraculously he was able to get the door open without me even knowing his hand had even gone to the handle. His arm clung me to him and he slammed the door closed with his other. Inside the room we turned into our normal selves. The light was already off, so we didn't have to deal with that. Nothing was on the stove, which was good, the windows were shut thankfully, and the couch didn't have Barbie dolls on it, that I could remember. I cleaned earlier today. The first place i went was on the counter, lucky. He helped me lay down along the counter and stripped off my shirt. I kissed him in alacrity, just begging. I tried to kick my shoes off. He grabbed my inner thy and slid his hand up, pulling me closer. Aaron picked me up and pinned me against the wall, near the hallway. There he went straight down my chest, kissing, holding my wrists to the wall. I was helpless, I just let him do it. It felt too good to want to stop or to attempt bringing him back to my face. Soon, though, he let go and ripped his shirt off. I took this time to unzip his pants and pull them down slightly, they didn't go as far as I was hoping before he attacked my lips again. One of his legs went to the outside of mine, the other in between. He let go of me completely, his knuckles almost making an indent in the wall on either side of my head. We both kicked off out shoes then. His hands went to my front pockets and pulled down. My pants sagged to the extreme. His hands grabbed me back and pulled them all the way down to my ankles. I kicked them off and he picked me up. He walked straight to our bedroom. . . "I'm going to take a shower before we go." I said. A tired, disapproving thrill seeker rolled from his side to his back, eyes closed, and lazily put an arm over me like a strap for a roller coaster. "We still have plenty of time to. . . Hey, no." He complained. I slipped out of his powerless restraint and stood up. He opened his eyes and gave me a hard, yet extremely pleading glare. "Stay." "Your mother would probably like to spend some time with us, too. Don't you think?" I asked, throwing clean boxers over the sheets. "She's fine. And so is Katie. Will you get back here," I looked at him, he pouted. "Please." he grabbed the boxers and put them on the far side of him. "I was just regaining my energy." "I think you've exerted enough energy on me for one day. Remember, you need that for our daughter." He groaned and drug my pillow over his face. "You can't fall asleep in a bowl of chicken noodle." I said. He coughed sarcastically. I walked to the bathroom and took a shower. It was hot and soothing on my strained joints. The steam worked wonders in my lungs. I heard the sink running when I turned the water off. Aaron had gotten up, surprisingly, and was brushing his teeth. I wrapped the towel around me and walked up behind him. "We need a house," he muttered through the toothpaste. "Why do you say that?" I asked, wrapping my arms around his chest, kissing his shoulder. "We don't have a lawn for Katie to practice on." He spat in the sink and went back to brushing vigorously. I watched him in the mirror. He has been so stuck on getting us a house, especially for Katie, to let her be a normal child with a normal, soccer field-sized backyard. "She loves the park," I tried, but I knew that wouldn't do. "The park isn't a backyard. Besides, you deserve a kitchen." "I have a kitchen, a home, a beautiful daughter, and a wonderful husband. I don't kneed anything else." He looked at me in the mirror for a second, an unreadable expression in his hard eyes, then continued brushing. ""I'm going to find a house for us." I rubbed his arm but stopped when he rinsed his mouth out. He turned to look at me and flashed a smile as evidence of his thorough job, for Jane, I suppose. "I'll be out soon." He said and tossed the towel across the top of the shower. I kissed him and we switched places. He got in and I grabbed my blue toothbrush. After that I went to the room to change. The bed was semi-made and the closet was propped open. Other than that the room had stayed fairly clean through the whole endeavor. I dressed in a fun and harmless red blouse and faded blue jeans. "The hallway had a pair of black converse waiting for me. I walked past them out to fix a small snack for us. I turned the corner into the kitchen and saw a plate sitting on the island counter-top. On the plate was a grilled cheese sandwich, cut perfectly in half - across, just like I like it. Wedge between the pieces were slices of cantaloupe, topped off with a glass of milk. I walked over with a dumb smile on my face and pulled the piece of paper out from underneath it. Hope you like it. I know I'm not much of a chef or anything, but I thought you might want something from out high school years. See you after I get all squeaky clean. That was cheesy. I love you, Aaron. I laughed at his silly note as it taped itself to my heart. I sat down to eat the lunch he made for me. What he meant by the "I know I'm not much of a chef," comment made no sense. He was way better than his mind would let him believe. Mid-way through the meal I paused, rinsed my hands and went scrounging around the kitchen for something he would love, or at least like. Something to hold him over, a thank you. A salad was out of the question, chips. . . eah. Nothing left over, so the pizza and mashed potatoes were out, I didn't have time to make rice - he would be out so fast it would be impossible. I searched the cabinets and fridge until I had a revelation. Tacos. Yesterdays ground beef didn't count as leftovers anymore. I threw the pan on the oven and grabbed the shells out of the cupboard. "You could just throw it away if you don't want it." I jumped and spun around to see him standing there, shaggy wet hair, navy blue shirt, and dark jeans with a couple holes by the pockets and knees. He looked startled when he saw me freak. "Sorry, didn't mean to do that." "No, no, I uh, was just making you a snack." Breathe in, breathe out. He smiled amiably. "Uh-huh. I can see that." He walked over into the kitchen, picking up the plate with my food. Moving it closer and closer to the sink. "I'm not done with that yet." He paused,t hen went in complete reverse motion and set it down right where it had been. "What kind of snack?" He asked, eyeing the pan. "You just have to wait and see. It's a surprise." "Mhm." I knew that "mhm" voice all too well. I guarded the disassembled food-in-progress just in time for, what do you know, his hands to rest over my shoulders. His head came beside mine. "Is this really necessary?" His teeth gently kissed my neck. I worked to keep my muscles up and stiff so they wouldn't fall on the hot pan. His hands fell down my arms, easing them by moving them down to my side. "You shouldn't be looking." I said, looking down at the stove. "Who said I was?" He kissed my shoulder. "What are you doing," "I think I have enough energy for both of my girls." He whispered. The only thought that came in my head: Just a little? For a little bit? I could do that, she'd be fine for that long, if we were fast. He was too manipulative. "We can't." Stupid mouth. "Yes, we can." There, the answer to all our problems! Just go for it. "You know, this really isn't good. I think we're addicted." He laughed. "And is there a problem with that?" He turned the stove off. I turned it back on. "We have a promise to keep, so yes." He turned it off again. "I'll be fast." "Aaron." "Once isn't enough. You left way before you had to. Look, we have half an hour." His hands slid up my ribs and rested right below my bra. "You're hopeless." "Call me whatever you want. I'm still calling you mine." His body pressed up against mine gently. I turned my face to the right, where his was waiting for me. He leaned down and I kissed him. "Bad," I muttered. "Good," he mumbled back. "Bad," "Quiet." he whispered very softly. Aaron leaned back to give me room to spin. I did so eagerly and wrapped my arms over his shoulders. He kissed me. He came closer and moved me away from the stove. This is not good, my brain thought. Jane loves watching Katie, my body thought without my permission. You can't just strand her there. She's not, besides, were only a phone call away. His hands went up either side of my face. And when he won't let you hear it? . . . they'll call again. Look at yourself, what are you trying to get out of this? Did you seriously just ask that? He pulled my blouse off. Yes. . . . take a wild guess. Well? For a brain, you're not very smart. You should take your tongue back now. No. He unhooked my bra. You know what this is going to lead to. Can you just be quiet for one minute? Nope. What point are you trying to make, other than annoying me? His belt was coming undone. I'm the part of you that feels how important this is, but also how you can get this anytime, obviously. But you need to go to your daughter now. . . . can you be any more of a jerk? Probably. Go on. If he could her you right now. . . He sat me up on the counter. I know, I'd be a bloody mess on the floor. Yup. Now stop him. I breathed out and pushed him back steadily, not hard, just enough to say enough. Aaron slowed and hovered above my neck, trying to calm himself. "Later, ok?" I asked. "And we have to go see my mother?" He didn't sound thrilled at all. I laughed sympathetically. "That's going to be a ball." He said and helped me stand. I turned, lifting my hair. He hooked my bra back together and caressed my back. That touch is enough to drive any girl to bite her own arm. "I put my blouse back on and made him two tacos with a bunch of grapes. He drank three glasses of water. I went back in the bedroom and cleaned up the abandoned clothing, making the bed too, while Aaron took the living room. It was fairly clean already so he only had to put a stuffed animal or two away and straighten the furniture. Note: that was not from us. Not this time. |
